Duke Ob/Gyn Residency Program
Long hours, high clinical stakes, and challenging learning curves set the stage for difficult shame experiences during residency training. We are piloting the first ever Shame Competent Residency Program training initiative with the Duke Ob/Gyn Residency Program with plans to expand to other programs at Duke and beyond in 2025.
Devon & Cornwall
Police
Within policing, as with other human services, shame and its impacts have rarely been an explicit focus of training and practice. In collaboration with the Devon & Cornwall Police, we are delivering an innovative and evidence-based Shame Competence for Police training package that we hope will be become a model for policing worldwide.
Trauma Informed Plymouth Network
We believe that trauma informed care is nested within a broader framework of shame sensitive practice. We are working with the trauma informed Plymouth network to equip local professionals with tools to mitigate the impacts of shame within their local communities, helping establish Plymouth, UK as the world's first 'Shame Competent City.'
EmPRO
Insurance
Shame in the clinical encounter between a physician and patient can have significant effects on patients, their health outcomes, and their experiences in healthcare. In partnership with EmPRO Insurance, a large NY-based malpractice insurance carrier, we are developing a 5-module, asynchronous training entitled "Shame Competence in the Clinical Encounter" for their network of 4,000+ physicians.
